3 swansGreat weeks of dance fun for the budding performer!

Incredible fun that gives great self-confidence and satisfaction!

ATTIRE: If you have dance clothes (leotard, tights, ballet slippers), please wear them! We realize that this may be your child's first experience with dance. In this case, wear comfortable clothing that you can easily move in, barefoot or socks. Street shoes are not allowed in the studios in order to preserve and protect the floors. Please pull hair back away from face.

Curriculum

Summer Kids! Dance Workshops are geared towards younger dancers with little to no dance experience. This is an excellent opportunity to introduce dance to young children who may be thinking about enrolling in the fall. DTSW offers safe, correct technical training and is known in the community for its high quality dance education.

Discovering Dance: An introduction to movement and dance presented in an age-appropriate, creative manner for our youngest dancers (3 & 4).

Pre-Ballet: Pre-Ballet focuses on basic elements of ballet technique as well as locomotor & music skills, posture, stretching/strengthening, jumping, creative expression (5 & 6; 7 & 8)

Choreography: Students will be taught short theme-related dances to be presented in our Friday, informal studio performance.

Craft: Students will create simple crafts, props and/or costumes relating to the theme of the week.

Creative Movement Activities: An exploration of body, space & time. Students are encouraged to explore their own personal "styles" of moving.
